Spinoza writes with geometric rigor, treating ethics like a science.
He believes:
- God = Nature (substance is self-caused)
- Emotions enslaved = passions; emotions understood = adequate ideas
- Freedom is activity through reason, not arbitrary will
His constraints:
- Proceeds from definitions
- Never contradicts self
- No supernatural appeals
